listen to the bones

Here the quiet with my feet in the moss
A spontaneous funeral
A knowledge of loss
Losses they scream out
From every screen
And there’s the loss of my certainty
Cause lately it feels like
the world is a runaway train
And we’re bracing for impact
With all of this heartbreak
and this separation
I sure hope that love makes a comeback...
So exit the matrix
The good people say
But I’m not sure how to
Fight the power these days?
There’s no going back though
Now that I under stand
Im just trying to make a home
On this stolen land
Cause we built our cities
on graveyards of cultures
Told that we ought to forget it
But do you not know
that the dead keep their teeth
And will chew all the wires in the engine..?
I will listen to the bones
Buried underneath these makeshift fragile thrones
I will walk out in the night
Letting the future ones be my guiding light
I will hold on to the thread
That is weaving a new story now instead
I will listen to the bones…
And there is the new story I have been told
A story that breaks us out of the mold
And in this story we live without fear
interconnected we make beauty here
And oh how I long for the sacred reunion
That so many of us are craving
That we would finally be woven together
And live like the earth is worth saving...

temporary shelters
06:18
|

My heart needs a course correction
just like the wind, may it simply change directions
away from these things that are not mine
up over the mountains let it fly...to where I belong
'cause these temporary shelters
they only keep you from the bitter cold
but these temporary shelters
they never really get you warm, get you warm enough
Hey there man, can you spare a little change? I'm drowning in madness and there's screaming in my veins
I have a pencil, and I'll draw for you a home
with four perfect windows where you'll never be alone
and where you'll belong...
'cause these temporary shelters they only keep you from the bitter cold
but these temporary shelters
they never really get you warm, get you warm enough
and oh desire, is like a hook in the flesh
I'm caught up and struggling trying to catch my breath
just give me something meaningful that I can feel and touch
Is that out of the question? Am I asking for too much...to want to belong?
'cause these temporary shelters
the only keep me from the bitter cold
but these temporary shelters
they never really get me warm
get me warm enough get me warm get me warm enough
get me warm...

cool water

May I be grounded here by the silence
Watch my ego float away
And lead me to the cool water
that keeps the fire at bay
Oh lead me to the cool water
the cool water the cool water
May I be released from my troubled mind
and all the stories that it tells
and lead me too calmer waters
where my soul can rest and be well
Oh lead me to calmer water
calmer waters calmer waters
I, I am here now, I am here now, I am here now
We, we are here now, we are here now, we are here now.

a thousand layers

A Thousand Layers
Oh, that my soul could take root
Deeply in the ground
That I could be heavy and anchored there
Like a mountain that simply carries on.
But all my parts are movable.
All attachments temporal.
I am but a drop inside a living ocean.
One that is capable of feeling alone.
Wind moves over the continents.
We will breathe each other's breath its just a matter of time...
A thousand layers deep in chaos.
All illusions of control have slowly left me.
With incomprehensible perfection.
We exist, we exist inside a mystery.
I wish I knew what you were thinking of.
Exist with you inside a single body, luv.
But there are dimensions in between us.
Unknowable realities.
And with the humblest of uncertainty
There's nothing more to do but bow
To the vastness of the universe
That we are contained within somehow...
I must be like a mountain
that simply carries on...

wood carver's lament

Wood Carver's Lament
I'm going with the grain
grain of the wood
move in its direction
like I should
circling the knots
tangled up with time
until i reach the bottom
the bottom line
ahh ahh, ahh ahh
In the city chaos
up against a wall
trying to understand
what I'm doing here at all
searching for a pair
of understanding eyes
for a place of safety
underneath the skies
cause the sun is burnin burnin burnin
and the ocean's risin risin risin
and my soul is cryin cryin cryin
when did you stop lovin me lovin me lovin me lovin me lovin me?
I'm memorizing green
so it's safe inside my head
gathering the stones
from the river bed
so if one day I wake up
and everything is gone
hold them in my hands
and feel the river's song...
cause the sun is burnin burnin burnin
and the ocean's risin risin risin
and my soul is cryin cryin cryin
when will you start lovin me lovin me lovin me lovin me lovin me?
when will you start lovin me lovin me lovin me lovin me lovin me
...

sacred dreams

I give thanks for the sacred dreams
that never departed the heart
they stayed deep, deep within
reminding me I am not separate, but I am a part.
If you feel lost and you've closed your eyes
if you feel lonely and compromised
well, the universe is a vast expanse
always offering another chance
to be whole again
to live from your soul again.
Out beyond idea of wrong or right
there is a wide open field
let us meet there tonight
and take this chance to get real
'cause what you want and what you desire
lives in you like a constant fire
so keep on holding to what you know is true
what you seek is seeking you
what you seek is seeking you
what you seek is seeking you
I give thanks for the sacred dreams, that never departed the heart.
That never departed the heart.
Never departed the heart.
